The Company:

Located in Cambridge near Red Line MBTA station and bus routes, the company is a funded, venture-backed start-up now in its 5th year. The team is comprised of motivated staff driven to ensure the company’s success and take advantage of the opportunity that a fast moving company creates. The Role:

Incumbent must have strong tactical and strategic understanding of search engine

marketing - both SEO and SEM. For SEO this person must have had proven success with at least two different companies either working with an agency or in-house optimization, and with that have identified what keywords are important to the brand and integrating those phrases into the content of the site to increase overall ranking. For SEM they have to have had experience working with dedicated contacts at Google, Yahoo and MSN, and within those accounts managed programs of over 10k key phrases with a minimum budget of $100k a year. This successful candidate must be a direct marketer, not a brand marketer and understand metrics.

This position requires someone to understand taking a campaign from concept to live and within that understand what creative is going to entice and action, how to measure the campaign and what metrics are important, and mapping that to internal tracking and reporting. Beyond that this person must be comfortable with optimization, and enjoy tweaking small variables frequently to increase performance.

Additionally, this person will manage the website. This person must have experience overseeing the front-end performance of a website including homepage and landing page design and optimization, effective navigation and usability, project management, site structure, leveraging Hitbox/Omniture for web analytics (and a thorough understanding of lead management).

Social Media experience is a requirement. Experience leveraging social media to drive results in both a b2b and b2c environment. Examples include launching a corporate blog, Facebook groups and widgets, integrating video into program and viral community building.

Partner management experience is key (Gatehouse/Boston.com). An understanding of growing membership and keeping members engaged. Related responsibilities include item/product merchandiser, email marketer, product manager/product liaison etc. An understanding user behavior is critical and incrementally adding elements (e.g. personalization) to increase performance. Must be well-rounded and comfortable with all facets of e-commerce and e-marketing.
